What is ATAC?
The Apprentice Teen Arts Council is a rotating group of 12 students, who meet monthly at the Captain White House to talk about art, life and how to make the most of all that the council has afforded them. As older members leave, the teens choose new members from applicants, striving to maintain diversity.
What Do We Do?
•Throughout the year, ATAC members have the opportunity to participate in several activities such as creating and producing a show, working as arts assistants for family programs, and a monthly teen supplement to the arts council newsletter.
•Meet for 15 hours during the summer of 2008 (dates to be determined later). Members will attend workshops and training sessions designed to develop their creative and critical thinking skills.
•Learn about public art from the Arts Council and local artists through informative discussion with local artists and Arts Council staff.
•Create an exhibition for Arts Council Gallery.
•Promote the gallery event and get others involved in public art.
•Brainstorm events, classes, etc that teens can participate in in the coming year
